I am very particular about my hair. So much so that I have been using the same colorist for 17 years + the same artist for my hair extensions for 6 years. In my opinion, both of these women are absolute masters.
The Women Behind My Hair
My colorist is Sarah – she is an all around badass of a female. She owns Salon Patine, she’s a Redken Certified Stylist, and she passed some master stylist test (like the Bar Exam of Hair) that is beyond my comprehension. She is essentially the guru of color… especially blonde. On top of all of that, she is truly one of my favorite people on the planet.
My extension artist is Maria. Watching her work is incredible. She is a perfectionist (yes, please!), focused, and so. much. fun. She can tell you all about her travels, her home renovations, and she always knows the best places to shop.

The Recipe for My Hair
The video above goes through the whole process in 3 minutes.
Here’s a hack:
For my blonde – ask for halo balayage around your crown, babylights in your midsection and the front, and color through the layers underneath your hair up to your scalp.
For my extensions – ask for Bellami extensions and have them installed with copper beads. This is the SAFEST way to install hair extensions, they are simple to care for, and you can continue reusing the same hair each time you move it back up to your scalp (every 4-8 weeks depending on how fast your hair grows).
Can you even?! The improvement is incredible… but it’s also so natural. Most people never realize that I have hair extensions because they blend beautifully with my hair.
How to Get This Hair Color + These Hair Extensions
For the best results – go to Salon Patine in Santa Barbara, CA. Get you color done with Sarah, the owner (tell her that KIKI sent you and you’ll get a free deep conditioning treatment). Get your extensions done by Maria (tell her that Kiki sent you and get a free extension cut/trim/style).
If you can’t make it to Santa Barbara – search for a Redken Certified colorist. They are the color experts. If you’re going for blonde, try a halo balayage and babylight combination. If you want hair extensions, search for a trained extension artist that uses Bellami extensions (if the extensions are good enough for the Kardashians, they’re good enough for me).
