A little over 6 months ago, I wrote a piece on an exceptional artist who I found on Tumblr: Jessie Linne Ruiz. Shortly thereafter, she & I stumbled into one another via social media. Imagine my overwhelming joy/shock/surprise when I received an email from Jessie with an illustration she created exclusively for Blonder Ambitions!!! I have a thing for art… and artists… that don’t take themselves too seriously. Enter the art of Jessie Linne… While navigating the expanse of the interweb (i.e. while mindlessly scrolling through some of the sites that bring me inspiration), I stumbled across Jessie Linne Ruiz’ Tumblr and immediately tumbled down the rabbit hole she has created. This rabbit hole is full of pop culture references (like flower crowns and hipster-esque bands) and simultaneously encapsulates, idealizes, and mocks today’s trends. I’m on board. Keep on doing what you’re doing, Jessie. You’ve earned a fan here. Hopefully some of you will jump on board, too.
